Not Impressed

For this assignment, I decided to start my photo story magazine. With the photo story newspaper as inspiration, I decided to spice it up a bit. I used the masking technique to put my sister over the Celtics background. At first I wasn't really sure how to photoshop my image, but with the "happy couple" and bottles examples it was pretty straight forward from there. I think this photo is really cool. And a nice Christmas present.

What colors inspired me was this Nantucket sunset. I liked how it gradually went down with color. I think I followed the color scheme pretty well. This is my favorite forum I have done. I understood it and I got to choose my image!

With mono disrupting my still image video, I agreed with Professor Heagney to talk about my final still image video. With my person on the street already being recorded, it was easy just to paste it into the new app that I got introduced to called Preview and to add any images I wanted that related to the video. It was a fun process to do. Preview was a little tedious but it got easier as time went on. This project I am proud of because of all of the elements I did not know I was capable of learning or using was incorporated into this project.
Using animations made my project look 10x better. Making it move definitely made it less boring. Some of my images before were boring and I was looking at it for too long. But making it move made me less antsy. I thought I was finished with my video before I came to the exam block period but when Professor Heagney came over and talked with me, I realized I was missing so much. And I made my video so much cooler than I thought I could. I even have peers coming up to me saying I did a good job. And honestly it just feels good to hear that.
Even though this was not a rough draft, I feel as though it is even better to see this instead. With a lot of trouble with Hollywood and images that showed up with Chinese characters, I finally uploaded it to youtube. It was a painful to see my images have Chinese characters on my project. But then when you locate them correctly, it worked out well.

Intro:

Personally, I use VSCO to edit my pictures for Instagram. These are old pictures that I instantly thought of when I got this assignment assigned. I incorporated a picture of my cat, my best friend, and my favorite building at HPU! It was a bit challenging to choose all of the different setting and options but I did the best I could.

Final Thoughts:
I feel like I did the best I did with the filters. I would not personally use them for my instagram because they are a little too edgy for my liking. In a way, the filter outlines the main parts of the picture. The before and after pictures show a huge difference. I also cropped the pictures too to show the main idea and focus of the image. I enjoyed making my instagram filters and will try it again when I post a picture for my instagram.

People On The Street

If you could be an animal, what would it be and why?

About:

As I walked around the High Point University campus, I found some fellow students and asked "if you could be an animal, what would it be and why?". Three people from High Point University answered it in 30 seconds. I always had this question and wondered what people would pick. I assumed dogs but that was not a common answer.

Editing Process:

Since I don't have Adobe Audition, I just used the voice memos on my phone. I kept stopping and playing the voice recording to get it perfect. I couldn't wait until it was finished. My first ever podcast was a success! It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait for the rest of the semester.

Composition

Intro:
In forum #1, you will find many different pictures of different shapes, lines, negative space, framing, and angle. You will find different pictures in my dorm of all the requirements for the forum. Even though they are not perfect, they still show all of the elements or what the forum assignments have asked.


Shapes:

Next to my closet, I found the I have 3 of the same shapes. They are mirror squares and have a significant touch to the room. Even though they are all the same, they still have a good appearance to the room and they look very in place.


Lines:


I took this picture outside of Wanek Center. The pillars are straight and since there are so many of them, it looks like a super cool building. They are super high and it adds a nice touch to Wanek.


Negative Space:


This picture makes me a little mad. It is almost all of the wall and I hate that. It is boring and has no purpose to put anywhere.

Framing:


This picture is and of me and my sisters. I like this frame because it is more than just an original and boring frame. It has designs that add a little extra spice to the frame.


Angle:

This is an awful angle, but proves a point! It shows the upwards angle of a lamp, tissues, and overall nightstand. It shows the angle up but not too far up. It still has a bit of a normal angle but a little more eye level.

Conclusion:
To conclude, this forum shows a lot of different elements and has a lot of different ways to look at pictures. It is interesting to see all the different things in my room and buildings on campus seen in a different way. It was fun to capture!

Seeing Yourself In the Wild

Summary:

In this American Life podcast called "Seeing Yourself In the Wild", I have listened and observed to Sean Cole telling his story about him being chased by 9 or 10 teenage boys. While running, he was on the phone with his friend Sam, who was asking what was happening. Sean responded "I'm being chased". Sam decided to record the phone call and wanted to report everything that had happened. Sean is explains what had happened that day and how he copes.


4 Types of Audio:
1. Background Music-
Sets the mood and tone of the podcast. Sean explaining being chased by teenagers while listening to elevator music sets the tone of a scary incident but now being okay.
2. Recording of the Accident-
Seans voice is very high. He explains how he usually can control it and he is used to hearing his own voice but this day he was in complete and utter shock.
3. Different Narrators-
Sean, Sam, and Zack are contemplating on watching the video. They say that it is going to hurt and that they don't know if they should watch it. Them arguing about it makes the story and podcast more dramatic for the viewers.
4. Playing the Video-
They describe the video while the noise in the background is playing. They give us a sense of what is happening and what is good and bad by tone.

Overall:
This story was very intriguing. It has showed a lot of how friends have each others back. It went from a dark place from the attack to them overall joking around since they are good friends. While the narrator is explaining the story, it keeps the listener intrigued because of the way he explains how he was hurt and how he reacted and how his friends had his back. It made me wonder what would of happened if his friends did not react the way they did? Or if they would even be there at all?
